The international Maas Cycle route was nominated for the cycling route trophy of 2018!
The international Cycling Route follows the Meuse River from its source on the Plateau de Langres in the French Vosges Mountains through the Belgian Ardennes and the Dutch Maas delta to end in the North Sea at Hoek van Holland. Along the whole route, the meandering river is its principal guide. Beautiful and varied, this route offers different landscapes scattered with cozy little town and villages on both river banks. The route, with a distance of around 1000km is divided into three stages and recognizable by the logo sticker on the current existing route signs. Central Limburg in included in three of the stages and its region is characterized by flat cycling, intimate villages and rich historical heritage. The jury of the Cycling route of the year has nominated the International Maas cycle route for the trophy of cycling route of 2018. The Cycle Route of the year is an initiative of the ‘Fiets and Wandelbeurs. Its aim is to encourage the authorities and different tourist service to achieve high-quality attractive cycling routes for cycling tourists. The winner will be announced during the ‘Fiets en Wandelbeurs’ on Friday 2nd March 2018.
